iBBY 2012 London--International Board of Books for Young People

I'm just getting settled after the IBBY International Congress. Must say there was more to do, listen to and learn from than anyone person could take in. Highlights were numerous, but speaking to Shaun Tan (photos coming soon) and having the Hans Christian Andersen Awards in the Museum of Science at night was a seriously make-my-mind-happy event. (Had to return next day to photograph what couldn't be done in the dark).

Illustration of Willy by Anthony Browne, UK children's laureate 2009-20011 spoke during opening ceremonies.

Sonia Nimr, author, professor and storyteller who left us cracking up
and searching for tissues

Elizabeth Laird, author of A Little Piece of Ground
and many other books describes her story collecting
adventures in Ethiopia

Opening ceremony included a performance by children from Theatre Peckham

Me (couldn't believe where I was) next to Shuan Tan and great friend Tomas
